Default Torque Converter

I was going to do my transmission cooler this week and my fluid as well until my friend told me the torque converter that in the '06-'08 Impala SS had 6 cylinder torque converters in them. GM and their cost cutting ways did a HD trans for our car but left the same converter from the 6 cylinder in it. Meaning that at 800 rpms power is there. I was wondering should I do a converter as well and what size converter to do.

The stock converter is bad but not horrible, the problem lies in the tcc or torque converter clutche. There issue with pressure relief and it constantly locking and unlocking putting a ton of unnecessary stress on the convert. They are worth changing but its not cheap. Don't quote me but I believe their cheapest converter is like 700 bucks.

My Precision converter from TEP was $250 with the core.

I've never heard of the "six-cylinder" converter story. There are two part numbers for converters that will work with our cars, and the only difference is stall.

Both converters were designed for the LS4, as no other application has is much stall as does the LS4.

Deleting DOD, and mildly tuning the trans will get rid of this. It will lock and unlock like a normal car should.

I'm pretty sure stalls are rated at 500 hp so if they have the same TC the LS4 should stall higher bc of the higher hp

LS4 cars got specific converters. Part numbers are different from the other 4T65 units. This is according to Dave @ TEP.
