ok so i have a couple relays lying around and I want to wire them up to my HID setup. they seem to be running dim and after examining the wires I believe the relay would help. I basically am going to make a custom harness so my question is this. #30 would go to power(fused), #85 would go to ground. how would I wire the last 2? would one go to the power lines to the ballasts and one go to one of the power line for the light? basically i need this barney style. I think im looking way to much into this. Also before anyone tells me, i plan to get a harness but basically i need a quick fix to last me for the time in between.

85 and 86 are the coil.30,87,87A are the contacts 30(com)87(no)87A(nc) I would wire 30 to the positive of the battery(fused) 87 to the ballast power in 85 power from the light switch and 86 to ground.good luck.

That is correct unless it's a newer relay that has an internal diode across the coil contacts. If so, reverse the 85 and 86 connections (86 gets power from the light switch and 85 goes to ground).

Actually, it's probably a good idea to always use 86 for coil power and 85 for ground because it will work regardless of whether the relay has an internal diode or not.

Got it. I hooked up one side last night and it seemed to light up faster and brighter than the other one. Connecting the other this morning. Thank you for the help!
