Stereo & Electronics - Shift Light Location Question

I've been toying with the idea of a shift light for a while now, but I don't like anything out of place in my car. The light I'd get is probably the Harlan LED light from http://www.tunedbyfrost.com/products_he01.htm . I like how it can be mounted in the vent, like so.

However, I have a question or two. One, is there any problem with heat or a/c messing up the light when the defrost is turned on? Two, I'm assuming there is a small amount of fabrication to get it to fit in there, correct?

I've had my light there for years without any issues. No real fabrication required. The vent grill just pops out, and then I took the light and grill to Lowe's/Home Depot and just test fitted grommets until I found one that would work.

I will be doing this as well but I have a question, where do you wire the shift light into?

Good to hear. I believe I'll be doing that then. Appreciate the post!

I have mine mounted there. There's some ducting behind the vent cover that needs to be cut away so the light can fit. You'll need to pry the A-pillar trim panel away to get to the ducting.
As far as wiring, I wired mine to the positive accessory terminal on the driver's side of the engine bay, and the ground on the same side. Then I tapped into the tach signal wire in the PCM harness.

I was just able to push the ducting aside without any cutting and mount my light. I followed the wiring instructions that are on Raptor's website when I wired up my Raptor shift light.
