I buddy of mine is putting my lM7 in my 72 cutlass and we need a recommendation of shop on the Southeast side who could do the job. Or even a shade tree mechanic. He called a shop and they told him they needed to remove heads to do the job...from the research I have seen on the swap removingthe heads are not needed. Protip: Saying "southeast side" is only helpful if you tell us which city you're in.

Can easily be done without removing the heads, need a fitting to place into the spark plug hole to fill the cylinder with air and then pulling the cam out isn't very hard either.

There are other methods of doing this though.

Humm I was going to do the cam swap , assemsble the whole engine , attach the engine to the transmission , remove you old your old engine , reinstall you new engine get everything hooked up , take the car to a muffler shop to get all the exhaust connected correctly , get all the fluid and any odds and ends for

$1600

and I told you it would have been less depending on the minor stuff needed and what the muffler shop would charge.

So any one on here who knows is $1600 for a complete lsx swap in a car that is not an ls based too much. take it to a shop then they would charge you twice as much.

and by the way this has been going on for 6 mo that you have been trying to get everything together.
