There are rumors that Top Gear (UK) may test this car in the future. I hope it happens, that would make for a great segment.

He's one of few car modifiers who's work I like. He's a theif? What happened? Haven't heard of this. Something tells me that I'm about to lose respect for another car builder that I had initially respected.

The Hennessey "Venom" model is awesome!

Here is one thing I found on a quick google.

http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/638576-Has-anyone-had-any-problems-with-Hennessey-Performance

The one that sticks out most in my mind that I couldn't find with a quick search was someone sent him their new viper from the dealership (I think less than 300 miles) and after approx 18 months no word on what work had happened to the car. Through the 18 months when the guy calls to check on the car Hennessy keeps trying to up sell him on different packages when I guess all he wanted was a simple H/C setup. Guy is eventually in town for business so stops by the shop to check things out. His car is tucked away in a corner nearly stripped to the frame with no explanation of where the parts are for the car. Turns out customers that were typically out of state (in this guys case NJ) the cars were often stripped to replace broken/damaged parts when experimenting with other customers cars to push the limits of the engines.

Factor in the shady business history but than throw in on top of that the insane amount he charges for some fairly basic work and it leaves you to wonder.

It all happened a long time ago, but with how shady of a business he was running (stealing parts, parting out customer cars, building engines without actually touching them), I wouldn't trust him to wash my car. His new super car is a fine example of him still being a greedy prick, you could fabricate one of the new Venom GTs (I'm talking the whole car) for less than what he is asking for it, and come up with a MUCH better car.

I'd heard some of those stories over the years as well. I'd met John once back in 2000 at the Viper Owner's Invitational in St. Louis, seemed like a nice enough guy but also a total ':bs: artist' at the same time LOL.

Awe hell! There goes my interest in another car builder (modifier). If the guy's a thief, he's a thief.

IDK, In my experience, people rarely change & if he is now honest, what has he done for the people he screwed? Really, a damn shame, cuz' I like the stuff he builds.

Accufab built the engine that's in the Ford GT, not Hennessey.

Also, I find it more impressive that LMR did 253 in a F'body WITH boosting problems!
