Default 2001 mustang with 6.0 alt wiring help

I have done a search but didn't find anything on this! My mustang is a 2001 mustang GT and the stock alt plug has 2 wires and the 6.0 alt has a 2 wire plug. Can i simply connect the 6.0 alt plug to my factory wiring? I assume one wire is a keyed 12 volt and the other is for the guage I guess. Any help would be appreciated!

The 6.0 should have wires for the alternator coming from the pcm. You shouldn't need to use the factory(car) wires.

Are you using the factory underhood fuse box?

I haven't test fired mine yet but the green/red wire from the Ford fuse box is the signal wire for the alternator however everything I read said you need a resistor solidered inline with that wire to knock the voltage down. I'd have to look at my notes at home but I believe it was terminal B of the alternator plug that it goes to. The other wire is just for a gauge.

I am using the fuse box. I think its a 4 1/5 ohm resistor but not sure. I have it wrote down in my car. So the green / red wire to terminal b on plug with a resistor then the other is for my guage. Sounds easy enough if I'm understanding correctly. I'm gonna start dropping the engine and trans in tomorrow so hopefully soon I can start figuring out the wiring! Anything I figure out I'll post it.
