12 Second Club - Bolt on 02 sweeked in 12s

I have a 02 Z28 with 56K miles and with stock tune and bad knock sensors with minor bolt on's that I made it in the 12s. Here is what it took me to get in the 12.I have an A4 with a stock stall and 273 gears.I was running on stock wheels with street radials. I'm trying to get in the 12 second club.

MODS....
1. SLP Lid
2.Smooth bellow
3.K&N
4.Free Mods
5.Hooker ceramic coded Long tubes with 3" Hooker ORY
6.SLP LM1 Cat back.
7.Sub frame connectors
8.BMR Lower Control Arm.
9.8.5mm MSD wires
10.NGK TR55 plugs.

I have weight reduction also. That's about 181 pounds..
1.Spare tire and jack-36 pounds
2.A/C delete-33 pounds
3.Front Sway bar/brackets-15 pounds
4.Back seat/rear seat belts/bolts-35 pounds
5.Air pump/fittings-8 pounds
6.Fog lights with brackets-3 pounds
7.T-top holders-2 pounds
8.Windshield wiper fluid-9 pounds
9. No Cats-15 pounds
10. Long tube headers-25 pounds

What is your 60ft ? W/ your MPH you should be running faster !!! I had a Different 02 Camaro SS A4 w/ a P&P TB & Hypertech hand tuner and ran 12.89 @ 106 w/ no weight reduction !!!

^^ True story. You should be faster for what all you have done. You may have other issues besides the knock sensors.

My 60ft was 2.03-2.09 My car is throwing like 6 codes right now since I haven't had it tuned yet. I'm waiting till I add my SS4000 and 373 gears. Before LT's/ORY. My car only have 56K miles so it shouldn't be anything motor wise. It don't knock or run hot. I went 8.62@84.06 and 13.23@106.11 After LT's/ORY and I ran 8.45@85.26 and 12.97@107.88. I thought I picked up pretty well with just LT's/ORY and about 111 pounds taking out since last time I ran..

Im still running on stock wheels and 245 tires.When I get to the track I make my 1st 2 passes soon as I get there with no cool off time. Tracks around are packed most of the time so you dont get that many runs in..

See you had a ss with the better 323 gear and you had a hand held tuner I have nothing and I have the sucky 273 gear. I bet after I get my knock sensors/4000 stall/373s/tuned/DR's I will run somewhere between a 11.6s-11.8s

oh another thing I just thought of If I have the mph for a faster time doesn't that show I have the HP. I think its all in my 60fts. 2.0s isn't that good of a 60ft.

dude my car picked up 8 mph going from stock exhaust to long tubes and true duals, stock tune. granted, the car was a slug to start with, it still responded very well.

I had SLP 3" Y and LM1 on it before I did LT's/ORY. I think Its my Knock sensors because I have been told I could pickup .2 and a few mph with just them. The track I went to is a pos track..It goes up hill a little and it don't hook as well..

Congrat's...put a good converter in it drag radials and get the issues fixed and you got a beast!

thanks, Ya I got the Yank SS4000 Stall and 373 gear and I'm gonna get a set of skinny/wide's with a set M/T Drag Radials. I'd like to get onthe Top 50 SI list on here. I'm gonna take off my front and rear bumper supports with the Skinny and wide's will be around another 123 pounds off of what my car weights now..

I went a new PB tonight 1.960 8.39@86.51 If this was a 1/4 mile track from my pb 1/4 this would of been an 12.87@ 108.56

nice times for a stock stall 273 car, mine was terribly slow.

that's pretty close to the best pass i've made in this 99 m6 car. i went 8.29 @ 87.99 with a whisper lid and weld in fm80 series, otherwise stock and untouched.

how did you like that hypertech tuner? are they worth the money?

I replaced my knock sensors but I haven't took it to the track. But I'm wait till I do my gears or stall or both to run it again.

I'm about to install my Yank SS4000 Stall and my Transmission cooler next weekend. Will running it with the 273 gear hurt anything till I add the 373 gear. Thanks Jimmy.

I added my SS4000 Stall yesterday let me tell you its a world of a difference. I have to change my 273s to 373s asap,

I almost got the 150 brake in period. I get a po757 and some times it don't shift in to 2nd gear. Unless I let of the gas. I haven't went wot yet. I know when I eased on the throttle to and 1/2 throttle and it pulls great.

Hell congrats on getting into the 12's I have kinda the same setup. I hope to get the track before to long and get some numbers. Thats a big tc I was always told you needed 4.10's going that big

I haven't ran it at the track yet with the SS4000 yet only driving it on the street with 273s its takes longer getting used to, I have a set of 373s going in asap. I'm waiting on getting a tune after i install my 373s. I've never heard you needed 410s going that big of a TQ converter.

Yea idk, I was talking to revmax a little ways back about getting one for my old car and they said I would need 373's (sorry)to run a 4000... Idk. But even so your good either way haha

Dude there is nothing wrong with that time for that MPH. LOL I have went 12.80s@111 with a 2.1 60ft. Keep on working your stuff. Did you replace the rear with a new 9 inch or did you keep the stock one.

OK I'm waiting to run it again after I install my gears and get it tuned. I still have the stock 10 bolt with 273s but I have a set of 373 in my room ready to be installed.

Sorry but your dreaming if you think adding a converter and a gear is going to net you a second in the 1/8th when you already going 8.30's. I would expect to run 7.9x-7.8x with a 1.6x 60' and be very happy if it went 7.70's

Ya I'm gonna do more weight reduction when I take it to the track.Skinny's Wide's I might take out my front and rear bumper supports. I have been a best of a 1.96 60ft with stock stall/273 gears and stock wheels and 245 street radials. I was hoping for 1.5 60ft but I will be happy with 1.6s. My buddy went 1.75 60ft and went 7.8s@89-90mph.

I've got my car tuned with hp tuners.I still have the hiccup shifting something around 2500-3000 rpms.If anyone on here knows what to adjust/delete.. Thanks Jimmy.

And as for your problem do you mean it shifts at 2500-3000 at wot or just cruising it hiccups in that area? Either way that is strange and hope you can figure it out. I wonder if maybe it has something to do with the trans like the solenoid is getting anncy

Yes the track I run at has very good track prep..It was hiccuping at normal driving at them rpms. But I took it back and he tweeked with the tune some more and It runs a lot better with no hiccuping or anything but now I'm getting p1133 code that's front 02 sensors. I'm trying to get everything on and done before the Import Vs Domestic race at MIR in 2 weeks.

This weekend I'm going to MIR for the race. I think its gonna be faster then 12.50 tho..

I went to MIR today and I won the 2nd chance bracket class. I got a 11s time slip. Here is what it looks like and can I be put in the 11s club.I had a great time today.I'm happy what it ran

I'm thinking a ptc 4k maybe a little more not sure. I need to snag some dr's to see if that is why my gears aren't helping me out. I mean a 12.9 with 4.11's is depressing haha. But the tracks around here will be closed by the time I get my tc and tune so ill have to wait all winter wondering :(

Go 4000 Im happy with mine. Yes that's why when I made my 1st pass on street radials this passed weekend I went a 13.63@ 110.88 with a 2.4 60ft then I bolted on DR's and got a best of an 11.93@111.82 with a 1.61 60ft.

Damn that's a good gain on nittos... I have some nt05's non radials but love them but have heard there not the best out there. But im getting a 3600 from a buddy for a steal and it already has a antiballoning plate so ill just have it restalled when im ready to do my heads and cam. Hope it works out good, but everyone tells me I need to go with a 4k

Thanks ya there not the best but all I could find for the race i was in. cool man all that matters how big of a cam your going with that you will need a 4000 stall.

Its like 70 miles to the nearest track for me

You should be be atleast a 1.6 like me.I'm not sure about thread life. Yes I'm on stock suspension with just LCA's and SFC's I'm hoping for 1.5s when I install my 373 gear. Next on my list is UD pulley. I want to try and get on the top 50 list on here for SI..

I have weld in 2 point umi's on my car and yes I can tell a difference. I'm going with powerpond UD pulley.
