What is it Worth? - 98 Trans Am WS6 M6

So I just wanted to get an opinion on what you guys think this is worth. The guy is asking $11.5k and said he won't go any lower than $10k.


I have a very nice real WS6, Like new inside and out with lots of mods. It has the monsoon stereo system, t-tops, brand new torque thrust II's with with 10.5 Cheater slick Nitto tires on rear and Nitto 555 on the front. It has 3" exhaust with SLP "x" pipe with turn downs it has pillar gauges. It has a SLP lid and smooth bellow, BBK intake and BBK throttlebody, SLP ported oil pump, SLP shifter, Rollmaster double roller chain, Patriot Dual Gold springs .650 lift, Hooker Super Comp long tube headers, Comp cam 228/232 .588/595 112+2, Comp hardened pushrods, UMI pan hard bar and LCA's, Monster Stage 3 clutch with 5k miles on it. IT IS FAST! Always garage kept and stored.

Tires are new in front and 90% in rear. 275/40R17 in front and 315/35R17
No cracks in dash or door panels or seats. Headliner is good. Passenger window is a tad slow and headlights are fine.

Mileage is still important even with a heavily modded car. Need that info and if the title is clean. Any negative Carfax history?

Didn't realize I missed the mileage. It has 108k on it and no the history is clean.

That $10,000 is too high. A 1998 with over 100,000 miles should not fetch more than $8,000 no matter how modded. Mods are just not adding much $$ to prices in this economy. You can read the endless examples of sellers here on LS1Tech unable to sell their modded cars for much more than a typical mostly stock example. There are always exceptions but right now it is rare. The reason why $10,000 is too much for a 6 figure mileage car is due to the high risk for the buyer. Every used car needs things. Very few exceptions. A 14 year old 100,000 miles car wil need many things, no doubt about it. If not now, then within 6 months to one year. It is unavoidable 9 out of 10 times. Buying this car at $10,000 equates to $12,000 at least in March 2013, just one year away. We aren't even talking taxes, title, etc... Now try to sell this car in a pinch if necessary. Even higher mileage and offers not exceeding $8,000. An immediate $4,000 hit at the very least. Ouch!! Buy it at the right price and reduce the risk or potential hit. It diminishes each year the car is owned but who knows if you can keep the car for 3 or 4 years. Quite the gamble.

Ok that is along the same lines of what I thought. KBB has it at $6746 for very good condition so I offered him $8000 to start and he refused to go below $10k. So we'll see. Haven't had the best luck with finding a car lately lol. Thanks for the insight though I appreciate it.

I think you did good at offering $8k. I agree that it wont sell at $10k. If you got time to wait and he needs to sell, you can do him a favor in a little while and give him $8.5k. Good luck!

i got my 98 ws6 m6 black for 9k and it has 63k miles and in perfect shape...

i waited 4 months too buy mine the kid wanteed 12.5k for it and in 4 months i got it for 9k...98 with 63k miles i thought 9,000 was a good price...

sold my 98 ws6 m6 for 12k with 55k miles
