had the car tuned over the weekend

04 cts-v with a patg spec cam, and udp
specs on the cam are 226/230 .598/.609 on a 113lsa+2
pac 1518 valve springs, new oil pump
only other mods are a corsa cat back

car feels good and drives great after the tune but i have to say i was disapointed with the power it shows, i know it is only a number but i have seen others make more then this without a cam
344whp and 322wtq

i didnt get any before numbers, the car feels alot stronger then it did before the cam

god I hope mine does better. Numbers are irrelivant really. What kind of dyno did they use? Mustangs tend to be a bit of a heart breaker. is that wheel or calculated Flywheel HP using a run down dyno? Corrected or not?

Without having before numbers you are shooting in the dark.

For what it's worth on 2 different days my car made 368rwhp/340rwtq and 349rwhp/325rwtq on the same dyno with full bolt ons and a 230/224 cam.

Do you have the actual dyno sheet?

I saw my friends ~400whp evo (seen the other dyno but dont rememebr the exact) only put down like 360 on a mustang FYI.

I have almost the exact same cam going in my LS2 CTSV with I/H/E today at RPM. Waiting on a dyno vid and numbers.... So anxious.

yes i have the dyno sheet, a/f is striaght as a arrow, nothing unusally about it at all, got some more bolt ons going on very soon, long tubes with no cats, 160 degree thermostat, new wires and a drop in k and n filter

Where was the peak? Likely it is running out of breath before the cam should because of the manifolds.

The long tubes should help a lot. A friend put a 228/228 cam in his car and it ran a little better but after headers he picked up 3mph in the 1/8th mile.

I've got a similar thread here. I had a similar sized cam. Little bit bigger now but haven't been back to the dyno. Going to swap my clutch before going back to the dyno but still feel 30-40 horses down.

Any help or thoughts greatly appreciated.
OP get that graph up.

I bet you will gain at least 30rwhp with longtubes

CTS-V's do not like to dyno high. Headers, exhaust and inlet have huge affects after a Cam.

wow thats pretty low...my '05 dyno'd at 359whp on a dynojet with just dual cutouts. if you don't have longtubes or a cold air intake of some sort those are definitely your bottlenecks

Yes because you don't have headers, so that medium-ish cam you put in there is not really doing it's job that much. Bet you would be in the 380s with headers and no cats...which could be ok given the ctsv dynoing lower on a stingy dyno.

I could see 30+ from headers on that setup, but it would still have to be a really stingy dyno.

Johnboy,

Get ya a good set of Headers/Mids, a good CAI, and get rid of the dual mass heavy flywheel for a LS7 clutch setup. That should pick the car up tremendously. If you need any help getting a hold of those parts, you know the number!
