Springs will be needed no matter what, but look at a 224/230 .595/.595 110-112lsa

look at a cam from thunder racing or Texas Speed.they both have good prices on complete cam pkgs ,and install kits.you will need better springs and push rods with the more aggressive cam lobes of after market cams.consider a 228r cam .

TSP 224/228 111lsa(4* overlap)

I think i like the 228r but is that a hole kit or is that just the cam? also it says i can change the lsa anywhere from 111 up to 115. witch should i go with?
also with that cam the 799 heads and a ported throttle body how much hp should i make at the wheels? ive herd that a stall converter will really hurt your dyno numbers is this true? sorry about the late response my comp was down.

A tighter lsa (closer to 111) will give you a choppier idle, and peak sooner with a higher peak power. A wider lsa will have a smother idle, but power will come on a little later, and give you a wider powerband

I'd go with the 111 lsa, and you can buy it in a kit or just the cam.
Give them a call.

That link was just the cam only. Yes, a stalled auto always puts down less on a dyno, but generally will run quicker at the dragstrip. Like was said, lower LSA will give you a choppy idle and higher will give you a smoother idle. I would probably get a 112 LSA, that seems to be a good compromise.

so the lower lsa will give me more power at lower rpms? or will a little higher lsa give me more power at low rpms? because this is going to be the gar i drive most (my gas saver lol)

The lower LSA will, A 111 lsa is what I run on my cam and I'm not lacking any low end power!

If you go with something like the 228r you will have a nice choppy idle with any of those LSA's. I talked to Texas speed and Futral about cams and with my car being an A4 they recommended me getting a cam on 114 lsa.

I'm not 100% sure why. I would assume because i mentioned running a 3600 stall and this would put you up in rpm's to allow you to run the higher LSA. Also, i think it helps with tuning.

i found a good deal on a LS1 MTI stealth Cam 2 kit
specs are 224/220 .581/.581 116LSA

how much less performance will i get out of that cam? if its not that big of a difference id would like to save the money also will that higher lsa be better bc i have a 3600 stall converter also

If you don't want people to know you have a cam, then you might like it. IMO, if you really want some cam lobes that are easy on the valve train you'll want Comp Cams XE lobes or EPS lobes, not XER, XFI, or LSL lobes.

The 224/220 will work, but I am almost sure you will wish you went bigger after driving it for a week or two.

With a good tune you can get more power and great street manners with a 228.

IMO, sounds like you should take a deep breath and think about it...."If I save up more money I can get the cam I want, not the cam I can afford"...
