so i toasted my brand new engine that that the dealer put in because of oil consumption. it only had 3,000 miles and i suddenly started hearing knocking that then got louded then it lost idle and died. this was on the highway.
this engine had the proper brake in procedure, then the oil change with full synthetic to follow and another oil change later as well with synthetic. it only saw 93 octane to.
............ i go through 2 engines and 1 transmission.....

sorry i never get on haha.
yes they are going to replace it.
the engine was brand new and came from Michigan. my mechanic Chris said most of the odd cars need odd parts that come from there warehouse in Michigan. me and the mechanic both agreed that they must have sent him a faulty engine or something.
and yes as soon as i get her back she is having a for sale sign taped to the window. i have alot of fun and have met alot of awesome people through the car but when the car has been at the dealers lot more then your own driveway its time to start thinking about others cars.
im going to get a clean f body or a gto

Asking price this time? Probably can't get yours, but I have a sneaking suspicion I'll have another LS4 in the next few years.

you say that jokingly.....shop i used to work at a few years badk(i only stayed there long enough to find a real job)....a personal friend of the service manager(i think he was anyway....they manager was all over getting that car returned to stock) brought in his 03 or 04 mustang.....that supposedly was still under warranty.
it came in on a rollback. with a blown engine. we had to remove the nitrous, and put the stock exhaust and tires back on. service manager told me to do it. i said sure. since there was a diagnostic already in my bay, i pulled it in the bay next to mine. as i'm working on it, he says that the guy needs this to look like it was never touched, so they could tow it back to ford for warranty. i put my tools away, and went back onto the diagnostic, letting someone else do it. that job went very rapidly downhill from therer.

so the dealer said they hooked it up to the computer and saw i redlined it in second. ( that would be from the dragstrip the other week). anyhow i diddnt even know they can do that, or are they bullshitting me???
also they said the "reset it" so corporate would agree to give me a new engine which is cool.
really curious why this engine failed. because we all know its not from going to the track and doing 6 runs on new full synthetic and premium

No they are not...friend was a gm tech he loved showing customers on scan tool how bad they had been when they said they were not.

Nothing in the warranty that says you can't redline it in 2nd gear. Thankfully, it doesn't sound like you'll need to fight them over it.

very true... isnt that why the put a soft and a hard rev limit (fuel and ignition cut offs) in from the factory? and arent they set at what they are so the engine doesnt blow?
... I may be passively looking to sell mine, but its only because I am happily divorced and out of the military and no longer have the need or desire (its just me and my dog, occasionally I have one passenger) for a 4dr full size car... I've had it for 4yrs and will probably end up having it for another 2-4yrs (but in 2yrs it might be getting a vette to share a garage with)

It could be. You're oil and gas types really have nothing to do with the engine failing. You could have killed a lifter(defective or not) while revving it that high that toasted the motor.

If that engine was new and under 3k miles, it's a pretty good bet that 6 runs killed it good. Never a good idea to redline an engine that is not through the break in period.

I have to disagree redline at 6 k won't really hurt a motor since the computer cuts fuel, when you mechanically force the motor to over rev that's when shit breaks, I have my shifts point at 6200 and never had an issue.

yeah but your motor isn't new, in need of a good break in period.

i broke in correctly according to alldata and gm. and anyhow it was slightly knocking before i went to the track. it was just very faint and i thought it was my water pump which i ordered a new of and was going to replace.

im not saying that it was a major factor. im just stating that the engine was properly taken care of at all times. and using the best oil and gas wont hurt and will help some
