Can someone please tell if there is enough hood clearance for a 5.3LS with Edelbrock type intake with a carburetor in 1st generation (1963) and 4th generation (1977) Chevy Nova?

Thanks

Lots of factors.

The intake in the pick (Vic JR) is a single plane, the Edelbrock Performer RPM is a dual-plane. You know the heights of these things vary. GMPP has one too. Which one are you going to run? What type of air cleaner? size? What type of oil pan? What kind of hoods (stock?)?

I can guess, so not worth much, but I will say no on the '63 and yes on the '77

The dual plane is the shortest edelbrock single carb Ls intake, it fits under a third gen with carb but no air cleaner if that gives you an idea.

This was the inspiration photo for my build. This is in a 66 Duece. It also has a cowl hood, though.

The Vic jr with no air cleaner is a possibility to clear, with cleaner? Doubt it. With cowl, of course.
