Not sure if anyone on here has a "true" assault rifle, seeing as even an Uzi or a Mac go for around $7k ish (seen a MAC recently for 3500, but Uzi's can be up there).

Not a bad uzi here

Just for info for yourself, assault weapon isn't a true type at all. It's a term used by certain organizations and law makers for trying to ban guns with "scary" items. Flash hiders, removable mags, "High cap" mags, adjustable stocks, you know, shit like that.

Like said above, something like the AR-15....nothing "assault" about it. It's just a damn regular old semi auto rifle with some extra styling, all black, and some modifications that make it more user friendly.

I wouldn't call an AR-15 a regular old semi auto though, because it is essentially a semi auto M16/M4.

An M1a is essentially a semi auto m14. Still a semi auto rifle. Nothing assault about them.......just very bad ass and with the AR, very versatile.

:bang: Well I was referring to it as just a rifle...but yes, battle rifle since it's full sized round. Assault rifle, aside from selector switch, is intermediate cartridge.

Draco looks fun. Shop near me sells some as SBR's, takes the draco and adds a stock and brake to them...BAM! $1100 SBR vs $350 pistol. Luckily, they do trusts and form 4 (I believe) there as well if you want one.

If you just want a range gun, the M&P Sport is a great deal for the money.

You really don't need a forward assist or dust cover.

If your tight on money, try building your own. You can space it out over a couple of months so it doesn't hurt the wallet too much. These guns are so simple to put together, it only takes a few hours.

That's my plan. Complete upper, stripped lower, trigger kit. Once lower is done, two pins hold the upper and lower together, and the bcg and charging handle are easy to put in.

nice rifles.

Although I don't "own" any AR 15s but I do get to train with one (M4) yearly with a 658 sight. 100 rounds with semi and burst.

I'd like to own an AR15 so I can get more familiarization because IMO, once a year isn't enough.

Especially if you are expected to use it in a professional manner (military/police). In my opinion the police are not required to shoot enough. Especially now with the wide distribution of AR style rifles to departments. Bringing a rifle into action with 30 rounds on tap is a serios endeavor.

It doesn't like to snap in like the original cover and it just doesn't fit snug when I get it on there. I adjusted the screws on the back and it came loose again after being fired. I also had to file it down a bit to get it to fit. I think I'm just gonna buy another one and take it to a gunsmith.

Lol. I don't think lock tight will help me. The screws didn't back out or anything. I think I may have filed the front of it down a little too much, so I'll probably just buy another one since they're priced right. What kind of rail system do you have?
