Stereo & Electronics - Car battery dies after sail panel speaker install

Hey everyone,

First off, I am a complete noob when it comes to stereos.

I have a 2002 TA with the factory Monsoon. My sail panel speakers are blown so I bought a cheap pair of 6.5" Pioneers to replace them. To get them to work, I deleted my 4" hatch speakers (tweeters are still live) and I spliced into the hatch wires around the back seat speakers. Everything works fine.

Next 2 mornings I go to start my car and the battery is dead. I just think it can't be coincidence that this problem started right after I messed with the speakers.

I appreciate your input!

I think I may have solved my own problem.

Friday night I installed the speakers. In doing so I killed the battery bc I left it hooked up so I could test sound from the radio (but I left all doors and hatch open for 2 hours)

Sunday I went to drive it, but it was dead. So I jumped it, drove 1/4 mile to the store and back. I believe this didn't give the alternator ample time to recharge the battery. Therefor, it was dead this morning

I guess I'll find out if I'm right tomorrow morning after driving 30 miles round trip to work

Good chance thats it, years ago when I was in school I left my headlights on one day and had to get jumped off, then I started driving to soon and the power draw from braking (the school is on top of a hill) going down the driveway caused it to stall out at the bottom and I had to get jumped off again. This was in a 96 Tahoe but same basic issue.
