Started off with the fender and hood hitting it with 1500 first..
The rubber squeege really helps to instant dry and look for that orange peel

A close up section by section to compare the sanding stages

This shot is all the way on the Final step of 3000grit sanding.. Ready for the rubbing compound..

After 1st rubbing compound with the high speed buffer ohh and i used a foam pad instead of a whool pad.. idk.. why.. i just did.. but keept it really clean thru out the buffing..

RESULTS..!! And the final step polishing it.. Also with a different polishing foam pad.. HARDEST THING WAS THE AFTER CLEAN-UP OF ALL THIS MESS..!! DRY WAX DRIPS GETS EVERYWHERE..!!!

Absolutely, you can hit it with 600-800 grit and as long as you dont break through the clear just shoot new clear over top and then color snad and buff. The only issue with wetsanding and buffing factory clear is that without a depth gauge you do not know how thick the clear is. And if you remove too much clear, it can delaminate over time.

and actually your better off hitting the whole car with 800 and reclearing, it will look better, it will give the color that really deep shine

Exactly correct. You really don't want to do this to factory paint. You CAN, but if the car spends any significant time in the sun there is a good chance of the clear turning hazy and peeling from the base.
