stock 5.0 mounts with adapter plate?

stock 5.0 mounts with adapter plate? I'm putting an LS1 into my 86 foxbody and would like to keep my stock k member. BRP sells mounts that let you retain a stock k member but mount to the ls1 but they cost 280 dollars! is there any reason i could drill out a plate of metal to accept the two bolts from the 5.0 mounts and the 4 bolts on the ls1?
