LQ4 + 706 heads
I was wanting some opinions on my set up. I have an lq4 with a tsp228r with the stock 317 heads on it. Iv managed a 12.33 @109 with it in my s10. I feel like there is alot more to be gained. I know the low compression sure isn't helping anything so ive been pondering on pulling the 317's and getting them milled or doin some port work on a set of 706 heads I have and sticking them on. I know more compression is a big + but I'm running a 4000 stall, so bottom end isn't much of a concern. I just wanted to get some opinions about the heads and see what is the better route. Any help is greatly appreciated.

something you might want to note is the flow numbers on a stock 4.8L head, that an the smaller intake valve (1.89 vs 2.00"). If you port them out and blend the bowl a bit and smooth out the casting you could probably outflow the 243 heads (LS6) despite the smaller valve

Thanks, what I had in mind was taking the swirl ramp out and blending the bowls on the 706's. I had also considered putting the 2.00 intake valves from the 317s in them. Do you think that would be better suited for a n/a lq4 vs milling the 317s ?
