Hey everyone, I have a 1970 chevelle. I just pulled the bbc out to drop in a carb 6.0 and plan to connect it to my turbo 400. What conversion kits are you guys running? I saw that BRP is a pretty popular option, anybody have anything bad to say about them or have a better swap kit? Also I already have the lq4 on my hoist getting ready to be dropped in after the carb conversion, I have already pulled the intake manifold and heads off. I plan on going with a ported set of ls3/l92 heads, custom grind cam from Pat G or another cam vendor. Not so sure about what intake and carb to use? I have been looking into the GMPP carb intake mated with a mighty demon 750, is there a better choice than that? Also will I need anykind of wiring harness or would I junk all the wiring that came with the 6.0 when I go carb?
Thanks, David

I Ebay-ed the wiring harness and the intake when I got mine, the only thing I used was the coil wiring.
I pieced mine together from different places (mounts, x-member, headers) because I didn't want to spend big bucks on a kit.

How much is big bucks? I just want to make it as simple as possible for me.

If I remember correctly, the kit from the company in Georgia was $400 and was motor mounts, a really weak looking crossmember and some nuts and bolts. I have read people's complaints (on here) that the headers they bought to go with the kit didn't fit, etc. etc.
I ended up getting new Trans Dapt mounts for $60 and made a crossmember in my garage.

I'm guessing BRP is that kit from Georgia? Where did
You purchase all your mounts and crossmember from? I'm just wanting to make this a simple Sunday afternoon swap (if that's possible lol).

I have a 64/65 A-Body, so the motor mounts situation is a bit different. I could not find a kit that I liked, so I made my own frame stands.
Most people say the the Vic Jr outperforms the GMPP intake. So you may consider checking into that.
As for the mighty Demon. BG is not more, so there will be no factory support if that matters to you.
The wiring harness for the ignition comes with the MSD 6010/6012. So you won't need the factory harness at all.
You probably did not receive many answers because everything you asked can easily be found with a search. There are many many threads on these topics.

Ok, will since the BRP raises the motor up 1in and that the Vic. Jr. Is taller than the GMPP intake would that cause hood clearance?

Could you specify what you mean?
I am new to carb lsx and carbs in general. I am trying to make this swap as easy as possible.

I used this Eddy LS intake and controller on my 78 Malibu and could not be happier. It is a 6.0 out of an 03 Express. Headers are Headman, carb is a 1000HO, the mounts are $76 eBay specials built in a guys machine shop in Philly. It has a Comp cam, worked heads. Trand is a 350 and the convertor is a cheapie CHM 3200. Out back is a built by me 4.10 12 bolt with Mosers.
Bone stock and 137k on it it went 13.0 @ 107. After heads, cam, and convertor it went 11.34 @ 119.5 with a 1.61 60.
You dont need deep pockets are exotic parts to go fast.
This is this morning, fresh out of paint, hence the nasty.

Barry Grant went out of business last year. Their carburetors vary from the standard Holley. So, if you need support for their products, you are SOL unless you know somebody who is into them.
