Stereo & Electronics - upgrade monsoon question
my t/a has the stock monsoon 10 speaker system with the cd changer, but most of the speakers are bad and it's time to upgrade. i just want something simple, so i was wondering if this setup would work:
replace radio with an aftermarket head unit, 6.5" components in the doors, and 6.5" subs in the sail panels. can these be installed using the existing speaker wiring that's already in the car? i will be taking out the hatch speakers and don't plan on replacing them. same for the cd changer.
Kee Audio (a sponsor) has some good speaker packages. You should check them out.
Headunit comes down to preference and price. There are plenty of options there.

Holy crap someone who isn't a huge car audio nut already decided that rear speakers are a total waist of money! congrads! :) rears are just there for fill
If I were you, I'd get a headunit of your choice, some JL C2-650's or C3-650's or Hertz ESK165's, the 6.5" CDT "subs" Kee sells, and an Alpine MRP-F300 amp to give your system some power and clarity...your looking at $4-500 plus the headunit
and you will be able to remove and sell the stock bose/monsoon amp for around $50 on ebay

Nahh if you are not an audio nut you don't need to swap your head and amp. If you want to keep is simple do what I did and go here:

Order the $289 set and you will be good to go. That's all you need to get MUCH better sound then stock.
