Default What gear with 80MM T56?

Trying to get parts together for my rear (foxbody) and just curious what everyone thinks. Aiming for 700ishHP on lower boost and 1000 fully cranking. What gear you think I should go with, T56 trans. I was thinking 3:31. Its mainly a street/highway monster. Probably go to a strip just to see what it does.

you left out all 3 critical things for determining gear.

how many rpms you want to turn in high gear
what is your goal 1/4 mph
what is your rear tire diameter

My old LS6 Notchback was TH400, got boring on street driving, and sucked when roll racing..

Not a drag car so 1/4 mile goal is pointless, tires are 315/35/17 Nitto 555R (26").. Just wanting a opinion on whats a good one, i dont wanna go to far and 6th gear be pointless cus its not turning enough RPM @ 55 or 60 MPH ..

Well topspeed I'd say in 200 range. But that's fairly rediculous. In a street fox body even though I will have good brakes. My old z06 did about 180 in 5th with stock 342s. But it seems like the easy to find gears for 8.8 near that are 3.31 then 3.55. I'm sure Richmond or someone makes like a 342. Just didn't know if I should go to 327 307. Or is that to low for t56.

www.f-body.org/gears

i generally base it by tire diameter, rpm limit, and max speed in 4th. i went with 3.70's and 28's and hit about 150 in 4th

3.31 would be best choice i think for that rear seeing how you don't have a 9"

If there is no specific goal then anything from 323 to 410 would be fine

Can you explain? If you were to just leave it in 3rd and stomp on it, would it be efficient at all?

Big converter nitrous car, It was just a dog like converter wasnt locking up like it does from a stop, but this is a high HP street car im building, not a 1/4 mile car. So im looking for all round good. And i figure this much HP anything like a 3.73 just wont take advantage of the motor as much as a longer gear would. But was hoping someone with about the same HP and t56 would be able to point me in the right direction..
