i have a friend with a 01 corvette that wants to go at it with me tonight if the weather isnt bad. his corvette has a 2800 stall torque converter, holley intake, shorties, borla cat back, predator tuner, and he swap his gears for 342s. my ss has long tubes, off rd y pipe, magnaflow cat back, lid, filter, bellow, 160 degree thermostat, tr 224/224 563/563 112 lsa cam with springs, pushrods, etc.. and my car is totally untuned. he wants to do it from a roll because he says his street tires cant grip from a start. i have bf drag radials. what do you guys think will happen??? should i do it from a first gear roll or a second gear roll?? also i forgot to mention that his vette is convertible and he ran 12.76 at the track.

well i would put money on you if you had a good tune. are you a m6 i presume....?? you will have to out drive him, but do it from a low roll.

Yeah, a first gear roll from 25 mph will be your advantage b/c you can give more gas than he can because of your DR's. Plus I think 25 mph is a dead spot for A4's, but I could be wrong.

well with the 3.42's it should be near his sweet spot of 30 also with his stall as well, just run him near the top of first. either way, you are going to have to drive your ass off man..... good luck!

well yes i will have to drive fast, but i got to believe my cam has to make more hp than he is. somewhere along the line i think that i should be able to fly by him unless i am wrong

My money is on you. From a roll you will out run him . Especially if his best time is 12.7's. You will easily out MPH him. Go get him! :drive:

he has the regular predator tuning program. it isnt a custom made program for his car or anything. i dont have any programming on my car at all, but i am hoping that my rwhp on the top rpms is higher than his therefore giving me the edge. i dont powershift my car at all. i just put in a new ls6 clutch that only has six hundred miles on it. slipping clutch shouldnt be an issue, but i am concerned about his mph on the top end.

I have an A4 and from a 25mph role im fine...its when i go anything above 30. Thats why i hate street racing...im hardly ever cruising below 30. The car just doesnt have the get-up-and-go above 30. But back to your car...i think you can take him if you know how to drive. Good luck to ya. If you lose...get it tuned and race him again :)

Good luck WhiteCamaroSS, let us know how it goes. Weather's been really sh*tty though, I doubt they ran.

I think the dead spot is more in the range of 30-40, my money is on you if you can drive at all. Even without your cam tuned you should start to pull on him at third good luck.

Anything below 30mph...the choice is yours...id go from about 20-25, but thats my preference and just to be safe.

Bro, you've got it completely backwards. He wants to go from a roll that will be a dead spot for the vette he's racing not the best roll for him. It was said earlier that a dead spot for the vette will be 35 mph so do it from there. Have fun, man.

Heh...if you're going to put the Vette in his deadspot to claim victory, that's pretty pathetic. Why don't you guys go from both a roll? And a dig? Makes sense to me if you're buddies you'll have the time to do both and see who outperforms who in each situation. Quit trying to find the magic "deadspot" so you can be sure of your win. If you're that worried about it, guess you don't have enough confidence in your vehicle. That's my thoughts, good luck.

Ok..even if he does go at 35 for a dead spot for a vette..thats also a dead spot for his car. Like it was mentioned before...just go from a stop, its simple as that. Who cares if he beats you, you lose some you win some, but keep in mind...he also paid 50g for his car while you didnt pay half that. You will always have that edge over him.
