Default how much oil pressure is too much?

I recently built my ls6 up a little bit, and one of the parts was a ported ls6 oil pump. at idle, i was getting mid to high 60 psi.

i'm sort of concerned about draining the pan. is this too much pressure?

i love how i spent all day worrying about it and you're like so nonchalant about it like it's not a big deal at all.

thanks sir.

No prob, some people just tend to dwell on trival chit.

My worn out 4.3 gets 60 lbs at idle.

Draining the pan ??? LOL

only time you rally have to worry bout draining the pan is with a high volume pump. high press. pumps rarely have that problem

I know there are a lot of different engine setups but does anyone have any numbers that show what ideal oil pressures are? In general if you have too much oil pressure you can loose power from parasitic losses.

Ha, ha! Mine too! I always thought it was weird that the oil pressure gauge would be almost pegged on cold mornings.

ASSuming normal bearing clearances, the age-old standard is 10 PSI per 1000 RPM. Any more than that and you are wasting HP driving the pump.
