5.7 vs 5.3 vs 5.3
hey guys.. finally starting up on my turbo build. the original plan was to just use my refreshend Ls1 bottom end, but i just stumbled upon a killer deal for 2 5.3s.
1 is a 07 Aluminum Block 5.3 that needs a lifter(243 head)36k)
other is a 08 Iron Block 5.3 thats fine, just higher milage(75k) (243 head)
picked both them up for DIRT cheap.
so now that the build is finally starting, im not shure which bottem end to go with. all 3 would use a 243/LS6 top end, but im not shure which is the "best" for boost.
i did have a few Qs about the 5.3s and that was pretty much answered in my other thread, but again what would i need to succesfully run them with a 01 LS1/4l60e PCM ? i was told the only thing i need its the reluctor wheel relay?
but it shure is gunna be nice having 2 extra bottem ends laying around

Both are GEN IV engines, so get the ligenfelter adapter box for GEN III control systems and rock them stock
Keep in mind the bottom end on 5.3, LS1/5.7, 6.0's are all the same except for the pistons
The beauty of 5.3's are they're super common, inexpensive, and survive quite nicely under excessive boost. When they do break, just throw another one in and go back to racing
