Hey everyone, I wanna hear feedback from guys about the BRP conversion kit. I'm on the boat whether to purchase it for my 70 chevelle. Are there any alternatives to BRP? How do you guys like them? I wanna hear all good and bad!

The knock on the BRP kit is that is mounts the engine an 1" or so higher than the others in the car. This helps a lot of people who try to run the GMPP type pans that have very poor ground clearance and steering inner tie rod interference.
There are several threads on pans. I like and use the Mast Pan. It has excellent ground clearance as do the Doug's brand headers.

Subscribed and bump. Hopefully someone has something relevant to say other than, "uh, it's expensive..."

Dont know how much help I will be because I used the BMR conversion on a second gen camaro, but mine was fairly worry free. I had to shim the trans mount up to get the driveline angle right and wound up changing from the GMPP muscle pan to the F-body pan because of clearance issues with my tie-rods(and it hung to low at the back). I used the longtube 1 7/8 coated headers and they fit great. Oh I also had to drill new crossmember holes in the subframe because there kit wasnt set up for the 2004r trans I am running. Overall I would recommend their kit. There are cheaper ways to get the LS engine in these old chassis , but alot of them look cobbled together and the BMR kits parts all look like they are supposed to work together.

chassis works and headmen headers have mounts/kits for a conversion...i still havent decided on one yet..finishing my build first..no need for mounts without and engine. Everyone one has an opnion on which mounts to use and what kits to use...i dont mind piecing a kit together if it work. My main concern is transmission crossmember and driveshaft length(longer/shorter) would like to keep it the same if possible

I've completed an LS swap in my 72 Chevelle and kept the engine in stock location. Actually 1/4" forward but that's because I have factory a/c and the valve cover was going to rub. If you don't have a/c, you can keep the motor in it's current location so that you don't have to change the tranny crossmember or shorten the driveshaft, two of my main goals as well. Don't be so worried about which mounts you use since you can simply relocate the frame mounts on the crossmember and then add shim to set the height you want for oil pan clearance. I've been writing about it though it's a bit lengthy. I've tried to cover every little detail. Give it a look if your interested.

Well I called BRP and they stayed their kit is straight forward, bolt in and drop the motor. He sayed there kit only allows the motor to sit in one place and not have the ability of moving the motor around, which I like since I'm not mechanically inclined as you guys, just something straight forward..

Did they say that it is positioned in the stock location or a set back scenario?
