Default O-ring or not?

i am building a new forged motor it will be 346-347 anyways here are my components to put in

3.905 -2cc relief diamond
6.125 crower i-beams with those bad *** cap screws
58cc stage III 5.3 heads
arp head studs
arp main studs
federal mogul high-per rod bearings
federal mogul high-per cam bearings

I will spraying like a 250 direct port shot on this. my question here is while this block is in the machine shop do i want to o-ring the block? i have read that plenty of people are runinng up to 800rwhp without them and have heard a couple mentions that o-rings can damage the pistons and/or block. i will be driving this often and if i o-ring don't i have to go copper head gaskets? i have heard these are not good for daily driving. help me out guys what do i do?

hey mike, if I recall correctly I told you on the phone that Frank said o rings wouldn't be necessary as long as you used cometic head gaskets and not the cheap stock ones.

i'm almost positive that is what he told me.

I am sure at only a 250 shot the O-ring wouldnt be necessary. The ARP studs are a nice measure. Good luck.

I have had customers that couldn't keep cometic gaskets on and then went with the o-ring in the heads, ran a stock graphite gasket and never had any more problems. We have been using the o-ring, graphite gasket system for years on different makes of engines and it works great, plus the gaskets are only $40 a pair, rather then $150. I had the o-ring, graphite on my engine. It can be driven every day, and does not damage the block or pistons. BTW, the diameter of the wire in the block or head, plus how much it sticks out is the key.
