Well today was the day I would try to fire my 5.3 so I thought..
Cranked and nothing... before you guys go over the basics, I already beat you to it..
Freshly charged 1000 CCA battery (jumped while hooked up to my friends running Jeep)..
I tried it directly from the 12v Lead from the Old HEI AND directly to the battery.. I have a good ground right to the coil bracket
I hit the key and the tach moves a bit which indicates the box is getting juice.. but the tach does NOT show any cranking RPMS at all...
The engine is cranking over just fine, Hell its cranking over faster than the stock 4.8 in my truck!!!
It just wont fire no matter what I do.. maybe a bad crank sensor? the motor is a stock 5.3.. the bottom end has not been tampered with, nor has the reluctor ring been touched.. the sensors are stock and the engine was removed from a running Tahoe...
The box is a newer model.. made in 2011 I know the early ones had issues but I would assume these later boxes have been updated..
What should I look for next?

Well I'd say the box is bad - BUT might be something silly.
1. Do you know for certain there is no spark? Check for spark (could be no fuel)
2. If it is turning over as fast as you say then there is obviously good ground, the motor mounts you made are probably a good ground to the frame. Do you have a frame to body ground? Is the box grounded to the body or frame?
3. Is it popping, like it wants to start? Does it smell like raw gas?
4. I'd disconnect everything related to the box and re-connect it all.

Hey bro, O yes sir we tested for spark.. No spark.. I shot a wisp of ether down the throats to at least get a pop or burp..but nothing.. stone cold nothing...
I hope the box isn't bad as its a new box and an updated version... The ground is direct to the intake and the ground cable is from the head directly to the battery.. I could always run a ground directly to the battery from the harness..
I plan on pulling the plug on the crank sensor and testing it with a Multimeter... I assume you plugged yours in and she fired right up!

Ok I've made some progress... The grounds are permanently connected to the battery and I removed the plugs to crank it over for increased speed... and voila! Bright ass spark in all holes!...
Sadly I cant start it tonight cause the garage is a part of my house and my womans kid is sleeping right above where im farting around
No matter how good you think your grounded its NOT good enough!!!

From my experience ALL MSD products should be grounded directally to the battery. Thats where ive grounded all of mine since having problems years ago. Eric L

I ground all my ignition controllers to the engine.

MANY guys do a great job building an engine, and do a terrible job with the electrical system. Eric is right, GOOD GROUND!
Unfortunately, my batt is in the trunk and I figured there would be more resistance running a ground wire all the way back there.

Well I know no one wants to hear it but if you never ground anything to the body then there wouldn't be any issues with grounds. Run two wires to every load and all the confusion is avoided. GM got it wrong when they tried saving a few bucks by using body panels instead of ground wires.

No updates yet guys, I know its a simple task of turning the key and spraying a little gas down the hole but cause of the holiday I haven't had a chance... Tomorrow after work is go time I think... wish me luck
I plan on running the hot lead right to the battery as well via relay and fuse.. that way I eliminated any chance of voltage drop

All the other manufacturers do it too!

Not the Japanese. If you notice any computer controlled item doesn't either.
