Not true. Some of us have put mesh in the air dam holes, without installing any new grill.

@ the OP. Go to Home Depot and buy a piece of mesh gutter guard. It's like $2 for 3 feet. Cut it to be the the shape of the holes, but slightly larger, then stuff it up in there and get it straightened out. I'd suggest you wear leather gloves while you do it, that stuff has sharp edges. As long as you left it big enough, it'll fit snug. I'll try and find pics of mine.

Ok here's a few quick pics I snapped. Yes I know the holes from the factory grill are ugly, but so is the front plate, so I'm not worried about them. The mesh is definitely an improvement over seeing the black foam in there. And yes the car is dirty.

I like the black. I may have to hit mine with some plasti-dip or something.

Cut it to shape, but a little bigger than the hole, then stuffed it in. Once it's in you can reach down from inside the engine bay to help straighten it out. That's all I did. They fit pretty snug and I've driven plenty fast with them in and they're still there, so yea. Oh and you may wanna tape up your bumper cover around the openings to keep from scratching your paint when you put them in.
