Default Ticking noise

Have a "ticking" noise coming from my exhaust (i think). I only notice it while sitting at a red light...under normal driving its once every 3-5 seconds or so. After running it hotter, its quicker (every second or so). It almost sounds like oil dripping into the oil pan, but is louder. Anybody else experienced this? I've been told its the cats heating up and cooling off. I hope its normal.

do you have an aftermarket exhaust? does the ticking get faster with rpm's? it could just be an exhaust leak.

No...stock exhaust. It seems like it gets faster after I run the car harder and then stop at a light or something. It does it under normal driving too after I get to normal oper. temps. Could it be cat expansion contraction?

It can very well be the pipes expanding and contracting. My stock exhaust used to do that as well.

sounds like a loose hanger....
get a friend to look under your car while you rev it once or twice...
chances are it will show itself pretty easy..
stock hangers work themselves loose all the time...

especially if you like to GET on it
