So I got about 2 to 3k to spend on a little project car basically looking to make a 12 sec car to play with I kno it will take more then 3k to make a 12 sec car that's just what I want to spend on the car. Anyway I found 2 cars a 91 lx 5.0 5spd has 90k intake ignition and 3.73 gears for 2500 runs good and is pretty clean. The other car is a 92 z28 305 auto stock 90k super clean runs great for 2500. So my question is which car would be easier and more reliable to make into a 12 sec car. I kno some bout the fox cars but not much about the 3rd gens so any advice or opinions would be great thanks.

Fox all the way... Lots of Fox parts available. They're great track cars.

Fox's are a little easier to put in the 12's, and have a better suspension setup for straight line. But I'm partial to thirdgen's myself.

You can't go wrong with either platform IMO.

Yea a fox would be the easiest if you can stand to look at it. Me personally I'd do the third gen cause I like them a lot!

Another vote for the Mustang. The 90k miles thing maybe bs because the odometer only has 5 digits. It could actually have 290k lol.

5.0 no question. Don't even bother w/a 305 f-body

305 isn't something you wanna try to get in the 12s. But everyone has a fox. I'd still go fox.

lol this.

buy a 240 roller for a couple hundred bucks, and shoehorn a $700 5.3 in it. use the rest of the money to make it drivable without killing yourself.

actually that project would surpass the 3k limit in a hurry lol. nevermind.

What I did, with less that 2500, was buy a thirdgen roller, then I bought a complete carbed small block, dropped it in, had a blast. Would have went twelves, and after buying all the things to swap a motor in I was under 2000. I'd buy a roller 3rd gen, and swap a 5.3 in it.

So it turns out the 3rd gen is a 350 car would that make any difference? I kno the fuel injection set up on those cars isn't the best but I could swap to a carb set up.

any 3rd gen id just go with an LS setup otherwise fox body all the way.

I'd take a 350 third gen. Probably fun. Lots of low end torque and a good sound

L98 350's can make some good power for cheap.
