What kind of intake: Carb style mount T.B.
Hello,
I'm putting an ls1 from an '03 truck into a '37 Chevrolet. I'm currently exploring the option to remount the throttle body vertically on top of an intake that would mount like an old engine to get the look.
I've found that Victor makes an intake for this application, but it's more of a racing intake and only provides benefits at higher RPMs. This is going to be a daily driver, a family car for my wife (which I'll drive to, of course).
Could anyone point me toward some options that aren't super expensive.
Thanks,
Brandon

I have a victor jr. I can't comment on your particular application, but for me to of swapped from an ls6 intake it has been anything but cheap. The best route seems to be getting a 4 barrel throttle body and a cam spec'd for your setup so you don't lose midrange.

Wow, I'm really surprised that there are only the two options considering how popular the LSx conversions have become into older cars, but I guess that's why I haven't been able to find many while searching on the internet.
I want to keep the fuel rails and injectors, so I guess that really cuts down the possibilities.
Dang.
Thanks for the reply,
Brandon

LS1s only came in cars. What cubic inch is it? If you want a cam and extras, then the injectors on those rails in the ebay add will not work. They are stock injectors off like an 01 camaro.

Oh, Ok. I suppose I have the LQ4. I believe that's what came in the 2003 Silverados.
I'm not wanting to add a cam or anything extra to the engine. I'm mostly doing the swap for aesthetics because it's going into a '37 Chevrolet, but I would like to keep as much low end torque as possible. From what I've been reading a lot of the single plan intakes that use efi get their best potential at high rpm. I've checked into dual plane efi intakes for LS motors but they seem to be non existent.
If I plan on keeping the motor stock would that setup be sufficient and work on my 2003 engine? I don't imagine I'll be buying that particular one but I'd like to know what to look for in the future.
Thanks,
Brandon

If it came out of a half ton (1500) truck then it more than likely is not a 6 liter block unless its an SS. You can tell by the head casting. 317 will be a 6 liter truck engine.
That idea used to be right for the old school small blocks, but honestly the LS engines make good tq in stock form. Edelbrock does make a dual plane intake also if you do not want the victor series.

Edelbrock does make a dual plane for LS motors, just doesn't have the provisions for fuel injectors. Traditional carb set up only. If they did make one with injector bungs, I'd be all over it.

While it does not have the bosses, it sure can be retrofitted for them by any number of companies.
OR you could use one of the new EFI systems from FAST or Edelbrock or MSD and make it work like a carb style system with the fuel injectors in the throttle body.
