Default Spun Rod Bearing - New Build Suggestions

Hey guys, I am fairly certain I spun a rod bearing on my 02 Z06. I am pulling the engine this weekend and will know more once I take the short block apart. I was spraying a 150 shot and missed a gear. I hit the rev limiter pretty hard. I started hearing a ticking noise and thought I collapsed a lifter. The noise got worse and turned into a tapping noise from the bottom end. Needless to say I towed it home and so far I have it tore down to the short block and I haven't found any problems yet.
Anyways, I am going to build a new shortblock and have the heads gone through. I am saving for a wedding so I am definitely on a budget. Here are my ideas so far:
- Stock crank (if it is not damaged)
- H beam Rods
- Weisco Pistons with the rings gapped for nitrous (I was told Mahle pistons and spray was not a good idea?)
- ARP bolts of course
- Get the LS6 heads ported and polished
- Install a Monster Stage 3 clutch while I have it apart
I know alot of people say go for the 383 rotating assembly while you are at it, but with a cam only and 150 shot it made 665 ft lbs on the dyno. The drivetrain is stock besides a girdle and I don't think I need too much more torque. Let me know if you have any suggestions or parts for sale that I may be interested in.

Thanks

Stock crank 0$
Arp main studs -189$
Clevite rod, main, cam bearings -128$
look at the scat rods for 315$, very nice product
Wiseco pistons with rings-649.95$
Having a machine shop assemble, balance and check everything-1000-1500$?

I'm not sure I'd put that much into a stock cubic inch motor. I'd just replace with stock parts. If you can, I'd spend a little more and build a 408.

Maybe try to find a low mileage ls2 short block. Just swap the short blocks.

If you did spin a bearing, plan on spending some money on the crank. If you spun a bearing, the crank WILL have damage. You might be able to have it turned down and re-use it, but the damage might be too bad and it would have to be replaced. You can also plan on replacing at least the one rod with the spun bearing, and possibly the one next too it. In the long run, if you did spin a bearing, a good used shortblock will be cheaper and a lot less work.

Well, I tore into the short block yesterday. All of the rod bearings look fine. I didn't have long enough bolts for the pulley puller to get my balancer off so I have not pulled the crank and cam yet. I did get the lower main bearings out and all of them look fine. I am really stumped. With the knock or tap that I was hearing from the bottom end I was certain I would find something obvious when I started taking it apart. All of the pistons, pins, and rods look fine too. The oil doesn't look bad. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? I will be pulling the crank and cam this evening.

Have you removed the lifters? What did they look like?

All the lifters look fine. Before I pulled the engine I removed the heads and lifters and everything looked fine. I ran the engine with the valve covers off before I pulled it apart. All of the valve springs looked like they were working correctly. I removed the spark plugs and fuel pump relay and cranked the engine and there was no noise. After reinstalling the plugs and relay, when the engine was running it almost sounded like a bolt was sitting on top of the piston. The valves look fine along with the pistons. Thats when I thought I may have spun a rod bearing........

Well I got the engine tore down to the bare block last night. The cam bearings do not look good. How do I attach a pitcure on here? Nothing else is jumping out to me. I don't think wiped out cam bearings would have caused the loud tapping noise I was hearing?

Could worn cam bearings really cause the tapping noise I was hearing? I was told that the cam bearing wear is most likely due to high cylinder pressure from the nitrous.
