Default Front Dams

Removing the plastic "grill" piece, I have the styrophone behind the two holes. Have people cut this stuff out and if so does it go straight through to the radiator? Wanna know before I cut.

I believe theres a big sheet of plastic behind the styrofoam
its the thing that funnels air from the airdam to the radiators and lid

A lot of people just paint the foam flat black so its less noticable instead of actually cutting it out. Some also put some wire mesh in the openings

It does look really sharp with the mesh there. I was hopeing to increase the air flow to the lid via running a set-up that would pull the air in through the dams. Something like this corvette on the right @ http://www.vararam.com/
What do you think?
