Dynamometer Results & Comparisons - Spartan 402ci GTO goes 530/495 with stock driving manners

This build was a very mild build with cross-country traveling ability in mind, stock driving manners and a BIG fat torque curve. I believe we achieved those goals and then some. The car idles butter smooth @ 800 rpms and runs just fine in 6th gear @ 1000rpms/40mph.

FWIW, ZERO tuning was done on the dyno. These numbers are "off the street". Pulls were also made through full exhaust.

Videos will be up soon.

Brief break down of engine details:

-LS2 block, 402c.i., -2cc pistons
-TFS 235 Cyl heads massaged over with an Advanced Induction valve job clean up, milled to our specifications (64cc)
-Manley Nextek Springs with titanium hardware
-Custom length pushrods, 3/8 diameter - Yella Terras shimmed .020 for good wipe
-Spartan custom cut camshaft (Cam Motion) - 236/242 .630/.620 115LSA
-C5R Timing Chain - Melling HV oil pump
-Lunati Link bar lifter kit
-FAST 102 / NW TB
-All other usual bolt ons: Kooks LT's, 2.5 mids with Magnaflow mufflers, Svede intake
-3.73 gears w/ Tru-trac

I could have played with the car on the dyno some and made over 500TQ, but this is a legit "off the street" number and I decided against it since I like to build fast street cars rather than fast dyno racers.

Nice work as always Damian. This in an F-body?

Nice results for that cam. It must be very streetable with that 115lsa. Those TFS 235s are a killer head for the 402-427s stroker's.

Sorry I forgot to mention, this is in a 2005 GTO. I'd wager to say we'd be in the 550rwhp range if it were an F-body/10 bolt setup. The GTO drivetrain eats up HP on the dyno especially after gears are installed.

We're very happy in how it turned out. It's crazy that such a docile car can be smooth as a kitten one second, and blow the tires off @ 60mph in a simple 2nd gear down shift.

I just realized it's a GTO :usa:

Even though numbers are high for a goat with 3.73 diff , gotta love those TFSs'.

Great job :thumb:

Nice numbers out of a goat! I'm hoping to make 540rwhp out of mine whenever I build a 408. Pretty much same setup as what I wanna do except I'll have stock gears and bigger cam.

Nice work, I'm glad it worked out so well. I suppose I should put something up on the site about work on aftermarket castings & heads. Many of them can be picked up 10-20hp with something like the $495 Performance Rebuild that this set received. :)
