if this is not ok to be posted here just d/l it.....i just had to write this out somewhere

so yesterday was my grandfathers funeral and i spent the day with the entire family and was just feeling like crap while keeping a happy face and making sure my family was doing ok

the day ended and i was just being all sad and ish listening to music in my shop way late at night and just decided i would go for a drive to clear my head.......

well i live on a lake road that all the drunks and teenagers go for "lake loops" because its in the middle of nowhere and is a 15 mile round trip and really its just that boring out here

i drive this road everyday and drive ummm briskly at late at night when no one is around and this is what i was heading to do last night

about a mile from my house there is this TIGHT turn that if your not careful you will end up seriously crashing into a ditch that has to be aleast 7 feet deep and 10 foot wide

so i get to this turn and i see tail lights in the ditch but it did not look too severe of a crash and i figured no one would seriously be hurt so i pull over to lend a hand if i can.....keep in mind its 3 am on a friday

well as i walk up i see three people walking around on their phones calling a tow truck AND hiding their beer cooler in the woods.....ugh fucking drunks

then i see her......they had a fourth person in the car and were more worried about the fucking car than the girl who was lying half conscious and face covered with blood lying half way in a ditch

i immediately yell "wtf are you guys thinking!?!?!" and run up to the girl and ask if the kid has a light so i can see what is wrong and i use my shitty old samsung phone to light the girls face

one eye was swollen shut and she had a gash from her hairline to her eyebrow that was so deep i could CLEARLY see her skull so i take off my shirt and put pressure only just a bit though to stop the bleeding

i sat there for what felt like forever talking to this girl who was in obviously very bad shape keeping her awake and asking her name her dogs name whatever i could think of

she had just turned 18 years old on march 26.......

the cops show up and the kid who was driving that i actually knew was not drunk just driving too fast but he was 24 with two 18 year old girls and some other tatted up douche with a cooler full of beer......real fucking winner this guy

i talk to the paramedics and tell them everything that she was able to move her legs and arms but i had not moved her from the spot where she was and they said i did a good job staying with her....i said thanks and asked the cop if he needed anything from me and he didn't so i hopped back into my formula and drive home and commence to try and get so drunk that i could get the image of this girl out of my head

i called the hospital about an hour after and just asked if she was ok and they said she was fine so i that made me feel a bit better

i made a post on FB that i never want to go through that again and the guy that was driving posted "aw man it wasn't that bad"......i guess almost killing and changing this pretty girls apperance for the rest of her life is just not that big of a deal

i guess i finally know what kind of man i really am

Your friend should be castrated so he wont have any offspring as dumb as he is (or in most cases dumber than the original).

I wish I could understand how someone can say ohh it aint that bad when you almost kill everyone in the car with you.

Im 21 and that person your acquainted with (the 24 year old) sounds like a turd. Speeding, knowing theres a cooler full of beer inside his car, crashing into a ditch/ hanging out with girls barely legal to even be out that late/ getting them drunk. SICK LYFE BRO.

Sounds like the kid was being an idiot and trying to impress the girls. Great job on stopping and helping out though. I know a lot of people wouldn't have done that. Glad she was ok. Would have sucked to roll up on a dead body.

You did the right thing man, I'm not particularly sure just how many people these days would even stop. And to that asshole that commented on facebook, you can say "I've got the right mind to go find your old man and kick him square in the nuts so hard that he can't foul the Earth with another piece of shit like you."

Sorry for your loss.....

Agreed on both points. I can only hope that I would act the same way if I were in your situation. Very impressed that you even called the hospital to check on her.

the most impressive thing is you calling the hospital to make sure she was ok. maybe he parents will try to look you up and give you a call to thank you. when i got in my accident, my ex had an asthma attack and didnt have an inhaler with her. the lady that saw it happen too her to the hospital since the ambulance took way too long (she was at the hospital by the time the ambulance showed up), you never know when you might need the same help that you give out

Majority of people dont do well in high stress and "scary" situations like these. Probably why they didnt notice the injured girl and make an effort to help her, too much for them to handle. Good job OP! You should become a first responder.

and thank you for the condolences for my grandfather but he had been battling Alzheimers and parkinsons for 5 years and died peacfully in his sleep he was one of my best friends and taught me how to help anyone if i could he will be missed but he is better now :D

Good job man on talking with her and not moving her. That guy who said "it wasn't that bad" or whatever is a freaking dirt bag trying to down play it because he doesn't want to get in trouble.

The older I get, the more stupid people seem to become around me.

Good job bro on handling the situation and sorry about your grandpa. I too lost my grandpa and just got an out of the blue call when it happened so it was not like I knew he was going to pass away. He will be missed.

I don't know how religious you are but I think your Grandpa made you that girl's guardian angel and that night was a test from God and you passed. There is a place in Heaven for you where you will see your Grandfather again!
