Fueling & Injection - 98 and 2000 pump swap

My daughter has a 1998 z28. She needs a fuel pumpi have a new one in the 2000 trans am can we install the 2000 in the 98and use the core from the 98 for a triple pump set upon the 2000 trans am

The tanks are different. metal vs. plastic. Pump, wiring & pump hangers are all different.
