Last on my way home from work got up to 70mph on the freeway and went to engage the cruise control pushed the button In to set the speed and it wouldn't work is there an issue with a fuse being burn out or would it be a vaccum leak it's never done this before I use it all the time?

there is a sensor underneath the brake pedal on my car which is a auto. it was not contacting the stop so i had to disconnect it and turn it a few turns till it was making contact and it fixed my cruise control gripe.

There is also a switch on the clutch pedal if the OP's car is a M6.
