Since this is LS1Tech and not 350Tech I figured I would post this in the lounge. I took my chevelle to MC Racing in Kansas City yesterday. There were about 8 other chevelles from the MACC ranging from supercharged 502's to 350 small blocks. It seemed like everyone wasn't making as much power as they would like but...

I found this to be a learning experience though because I learned a lot from talking to other members of MACC and I found out my car was running really lean. I made 244 rwhp/281 rwtq, and 297 at the crank. Again, my car is running way too lean, but these numbers aren't bad for a daily driver.

Just thought I would share lol

whys it look so bumpy?

lol I was wondering the same thing... I think it might be because of the air/fuel ratio? It was taking forever for my engine to rev up also so I think the dyno picked up on every little "bump"

It's a humbling experience but a necessary one; everyone likes to believe that they're driving a fire breathing monster but sometimes it just isn't so. What are your plans to fix the lean condition?

On your dyno sheet, it should have printed "smoothing" and a number. I bet they didn't smooth the graph out at all, but it is larger than any other graph I have ever seen.

Seriously, richen your car up. What engine and mods do you have done? Dyno numbers aren't the end all, what does it run at the track?

It's a 383 stroker, not sure about the heads, but it has a mild cam, 12 bolt posi, 3.08's for the highway, th-350 with a nice shift kit, and I just put buckets and a center console in.

I plan to take it up to my dads shop after school today so I can get the muffler fixed, and I have to order a calibration kit from edelbrock.

I haven't taken it to the track, and I don't really have plans to make it faster. It's my daily so it is what it is.

I remember your thread on Team Chevelle. Did you ever confirm it was a 383 or still just going off what someone said? Looks like typical results for a bolt on cam 350 to me. I ran a combo that would have made similar numbers or maybe a tad more before my ls1 swap.

Makes for a really fun daily. It was enough to out run SN95 and 2v GTs regularly and from stop sign to stop sign would run with the stock lt1/ls1 cars. LT1s were a decent race and stock ls1 cars would start to pull about halfway through my 2nd gear. A good highway speed run and either lt or ls with a 6 speed would make some lengths pretty quick.

Based on the other 350's, I assumed mine was a 383 because it was making more power AND it was running lean. The normal 350's were making less power than mine.

Lid, MAF, pacesetter lt's, no cats, MT et street radials, msd ignition, msd window switch, lnc-2000, and a wet plate kit from NOS (100 shot).

Really? You must have had a lower rear-end ratio than I did. My 3.08s make the car a dog. Do you think when I get the carb calibrated it will make the car accelerate "better" than it did? I hate that sluggish feeling.

Man, that A/F ratio looks like how mine was after bolt ons and a Frost mail order tune. I remember I'd floor it and it would hesitate here and there throughout the powerband. I sent it back and he made it more rich and now it's awesome. Super smooth through the entire rpm range and pulls like a mofo. I bet you'll be really suprised how much better it runs if they richen it up for you.

Good lord I hope so. When I floor it the engine would take awhile before it would wind up and shift. Plus my foot would be pinned and the engine felt like it would have to catch up. Hoping new jets will help me out. :)

Arent you running rich. That chart shows you are running rich which would cause a lose in power. The leaner it is more power but as you know worse on the engine.

The guys at MC Racing where I had the car dynoed said it was running way too lean. Not rich.

I dont read dyno charts all the time but from the air to fuel chart i think your running rich i could be wrong.

No way, it is WAYYY lean being higher than 14 to 1. 12.5 to 13.0 to 1 is usually best for power.

They told me it was running lean. But thanks for letting me know so i don't make it run even more rich.

355, my dad did some hand porting on the 882 heads and good valve job, about 8.5:1 compression, Comp HE 268 cam, Performer intake, Holley 670 Street Avenger, HEI, longtubes, 2.25" duals, 700r4 trans with Corvette 1800rpm converter and Trans go kit, 3.08 12 bolt, 26" tire.

Weighed just under 3900lbs but I could drive to the track and run bottom 9s in the 1/8th in the summer heat/humidity (3000ft DA) on street tires with 2.1 60ft.

Get your carb tuned up and make sure the timing is correct and coming in early enough. Before I modded my distributor the HEI wasn't advancing quick enough so it felt lazy.
