Default do LQ9 rod bolts need to be upgraded?

Im about to do the swap in my 99 TA.. Trying to think of all the crap I should do when the motor is on the stand... suggestions?

So far, Ive got:

New front/rear cover seals
Oil pan gasket
Timing chain

What else can I do? I want to do the rod bolts with ARPs. I can just pull one bolt and replace it with the ARP? Then torque to spec, right? Seems like Im missing something...

ARP requires resizing the rods. I believe Kartech bolts are a direct replacement and don't require resizing. Are you planning on pulling the heads off?

On my first ls1 I used the Katech bolts, just like you said, take them out and replace them one at a time and never had a problem....the Katech bolts even held strong when I sucked a bunch of water in and blew number 7 rod out the side of the block lol.

I'm running ARP bolts in my engine now (had them resized) and working great.

So either way will work

I wasnt planning on pulling the heads... is there a reason I should?.. this motor is clean clean clean inside and has about 53k miles.

it is always a good idea, cause all people lie, especially to sell something they don't want. so if you have another 1-200 bucks laying around, pulling the heads is a good idea
