Anybody have a good place to score a decent motor? I'm in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area and I'm looking for an LM7 or LQ4 longblock. I don't need a fuel system or wiring as I'm planning on running a carb. All the junkyards I've checked with say they don't have any? Shroyer's in Lansing told me, "We don't keep 6.0's, they ain't worth nuthin" I jokingly said, really when is your recycle day, I'll dig through and drag one home, lol. So I left my number in hopes they will dig one out and keep it for me, but I doubt it.

So I was hoping someone in MI, OH, or IN may have a source they wouldn't mind me scrounging through? I'm also looking for a 4 speed as well. I'm thinking maybe a Borg Warner T-10, Muncie M-21,22. Or maybe a T-5, but the 4 speed would be better for me. A T-56 would be cool, but WAY out of my price range.

I promise I wont divulge your source. ;)

Thanks,
Trip..

Thanks.

Yeah I check on there once in awhile, but most of the time when I call the yards listed they never have any in stock.

It would be great to find a yard like there was when I was a kid and you could go and wander through the mud and swamps to pick out what you want, but now it's like gong to home depot and everything is on a shelf in a warehouse. I miss the days of throwing on a pair of boots and "Going Junk-Yardin"

There's a yard near me just like that, mud and all. Go out and look for the part you need and they give you a price for it (and stuff your pockets with little things like emblems ;)).

I should check their trucks and vans section, but I doubt they have anything worth using.
