Hey guys, Im looking at trading my my '06 CTS-V and looking at a 2012 Chevy Cruze LTZ turbo, Black, auto, leather, RS appearance pkg, moonroof. The dealer is giving me a really good trade in value for the V and gas is really killing me here in Canada at $1.50/L for premium grade. Also, I have no warranty on the V. I seen a few threads from a few months back where guys bought the cruze and seem to be happy, but i want to know if you guys have any feedback on the car, and for those who've owned one, if they are happy with the purchase. thanks

I bought a 2012 Cruze RS in December. For a family car I have absolutely no complaints.

It's been a pretty solid car for the first 5k miles. Only issue is the low fuel light isn't coming on and the dealer refuses to honor the TSB. No biggie.

I'd recommend them.

CTSV for a Cruze? Ouch....but I totally understand. I've heard nothing but positive things about the Cruze.

I mean Id rather own a CTS-V but just based on its performance & being a family car... lol But the Cruze is a sweet car. I def wouldn't mind owning one for a DD. I think the headlights & front of it look pretty mean looking. Id only suggest getting the manual. Heard the auto is a little confused when it comes to shifting. But do a test drive & see

I'd be looking at the XFE with the manual tranny, 40+mpg Read a car and driver review, said its slow but fun to toss around. Plus I can tolerate a slow car with a manual, can't stand 4 banger/automatic combos, the manual cars just feel so much peppier.

I bought a cruze for my wife. I'm not sure you'll find a better brand new car that cheap.

my girlfriend wants one. i encourage her to buy it.

also, this is strange, seeing a whole group of people speaking highly of a GM vehicle.

My wife has one; overall I like it. It has the 1.4L Turbo motor in it. Only issue that I have with it is the electronic throttle control, combined with the turbo-lag and the automatic transmission. If you're trying to launch and scoot through a hole like making a left turn, leave extra room because there's a delay from hitting the gas to actually accelerating decently.

Other than that, it's comfortable (I'm 6'3, 220#), handles surprisingly well, and seems to be an overall nice car.

Honestly the fit and finish on the plastic parts is tighter and better made than a $70,000 Cadillac Escalade, a $65,000 Cadillac CTS-V, or a base model $35,000 CTS.

I can honestly say its one of the best assembled vehicles in terms of interior quality, that I've ever seen from GM. Hell it blows away anything in the about $20,000 category of budget sedans in terms of interior fit and finish. I'd rate it right with the Buick LaCrosse, Regal and 04-06 GTO in terms of how nice the plastic pieces feel and fit together.

I'm pushing my sister into one as well - she should have hers by the end of this month.

GM got this car right, so I'm not surprised to see all of the praise. It really is a well-built little car that actually delivers on the advertised MPG ratings (exceeds them in some cases). If I had a 3-car garage, I'd be looking into one for commuting.

The main difference is the weight savings, lighter forged wheels, and harder tires for better/less rolling resistance. They are a bit of a rougher ride, but you sacrifice certain things when looking for higher-than-normal MPGs.

If you are looking at a 6-speed manual, then any model of Cruze will get you some crazy mileage. My sister was wanting an Eco too, but I have her sold on a used LT model that will save her over $4K over an Eco (their resale is high).

I agree. Econoboxes are much more fun if they are stick. Throw in a tight steering ratio, some road feel, and a nice exhaust note and it makes up for a lot.

i have a 2011 Cruze with the 1.4 turbo auto. and i have no complaints. mpg is great. 33-35 going back and forth to work. people have reported 40 mpg out this car. and i dont mean the ECO version either. it rides and handles turns really well. im 6'3" and about 220 and im more than confrontable in the car. the sound system that it comes with aint bad either.

i know trifecta tuning has a tune for the cruze that gives it 44 hp and 66 tourqe.

It`s true the fit & finish + build quality is far far far better than the GM of old !! It`s almost like it was made for the european market LOL ! I work at a GM dealer and the Cruze is a great car !! One of our tech`s just bought an LTZ with the RS package he told me there is no other prevoius GM vehicle that drives like the cruze that has come from GM .

Great looking car. Wish they would make a ss version similar to the 08-10 turbo cobalt, I think it would really compete in the compact performance segment.

correct, a 2.0L DOHC turbo 4. 161bhp and 265btq. should be an absolute mileage monster.

trifecta's tune put down 152whp and 193wtq through an auto. so it was a HELL of a jump.

Damn if they came out with a tune for the turbo diesel similiar to the 1.4L they might get in the 290 torque range with a car that will knock down gas mileage..

i think there is a diesel version coming in 2013.
the tune really helps the automatic trannys. the auto tranny is kind of sluggish with the stock tune.
