i was just wondering if any of you guys are running 700r4s. the reason i ask is because i have my motro bolted up to the transmission in the truck and i was looking at the kickdown bracket and throttle bracket and they just do not look right. so i was wondering if any of your guys that are running this combo could post a picture of your kick down cable bracket.

its actually a tv cable, and it must be adjusted correctly cause you could actually burn your tranny... i got my kit from bowtie overdrives..I currently have it to a sbc but i also have a lq9 that will replace it and also use the same tv cable set up.

sorry my bad i just keep calling it a kick down cable. the edelbrock intake comes with all the tv cable and throttle cable brackets. i have those mounted on the motor and the holley has a tv cable bracket which i also have. i havent started the truck. but i am putting everything in place i was just curious on the location of the brackets. as mine look funny sitting there or it could be i am just not use to the way they look.

I went with a 2002 4l60 for the reason of being better, all around. But the set back was a 550$ Trans controller, but it was worth it for the tunability.

ya the only reason i didnt go with the controller is because i already had this 700 rebuilt and beefed up. when i got the motor it came with a 4l65e and awd case. which is sitting in the back of the truck. i figured i would put all that in once i got the bugs worked out and when my tranny bites the dust. what trans controller do you have?

FAST EZ TCU, made a mount and used the armature and TPS off a 91 Truck throttle body, so saved on buying the "kit" you need for a TPS signal.

LOL! Yeah, except for the lack of overdrive.
I used the Bowtie Overdrive's TV Made EZ kit. Works great.

I run a 700R4 behind my LQ9. I like the Edelbrock kit, but what I discovered running it, is that they want you to use an Edelbrock carburetor. The MSD doesn't fit under a Holley carb as well, and the linkage is too far from center.
I run a stock GM TV cable and have it as tight as humanly possible at WOT. It needs to be "piano string tight" at WOT.

I've added a pic. Don't know if you can notice the angle? The trans shop rebuilt my 700 recently and said not to worry about the angle.

As Tigger said: the THM 400s and 350s do not have an overdrive and the 400 is a tight fit in the tunnel of many cars (mine). Good 350 cores are not easy to find anymore either. The "newest" Turbo 350s are 30+ years old now.

Idk about central Florida, but here, tons of parts, th350s are plentiful. But if I do a AOD in any car, it is a 2000+ 4l60 or 4l80 all day, the advances and tuning of the electric 700R(4l60) cause it to be a much better Trans, not to mention tuning.

i only ran the 700 because it only needed the tv cable to work it and my friend who rebuilds trannies took most of the stuff out of the 4l65e and put in my 700 with a couple other goodies. with the gears that i will be running the the truck an overdrive is mandatory. some guys say that the 60s wont stand up behind the 6.0l but i know 5 that this guy has done behind 6.0 lq9s and ls2 motors running big rims as well that have held up to having the supreme piss beat out of them everyday. also when i used my holley 750 dp it would not clear the box mounted on the front of the intake. so i had to use roughly a .250 cork spacer to get it to clear.

Yea, noticed that as well, on the 85 TA, I just did. Of mount the left side of the box.

hey i run the kickdown on the other side of the bracket and the throttle cable on the outside. if you go to a junk yard with some of the older tbi trucks that have cruse they have a longer stud that sticks out farther that i use for the throttle cable which bolts right through the kickdown cable bracket

I'm going to be running a 700R4 behind my LS1 also. I'm fixing to have to order some kind of TV cable setup. I'm not sure if I want to go with a stock cable with corrected geometry brackets or with a Lokar cable setup.
Has anyone here used a Lokar cable?
