Cant get that damn top nut off of the shock/spring assembly. I'm in the middle of the install and this is pissing me off. Springs are compressed, thing is loose, but can't get it off. Drowned it in PB blaster, nothing. Can barely get a wrench on there and a vice grip and when I do there is no way to grip it and/or it won't turn off (strut is turning when I use a ratchet).
HELP

If there's a lot of rust like the ones that came off my buddies camaro. You pretty much have to grind it down. But you don't want to do that if you plan on re using the shock. If not then do it. If you have a table vice it helps holding the strut from turning.

Electric (or air) impact ftw! Zipped mine right off.

Grind or cut it off. I was lucky, mine had very little rust.

try some heat on it , you might have to cut it off and then do new shocks , which blows if you were gonna do a quick swap .

I let mine soak in PB Blaster for a night. Came right off the next day.

I cleaned off the nut with a flat head screwdriver then I let it sit in Coca Cola overnight. Fallowing day the nut came right off.

It's amazing what coke will do to steel yet people still drink that crap. I never see anyone drinking WD-40 or PB blaster though.

Finally got the job done. Had to wrestle off the other side too. FUCK I hope I never have to do that again. Didn't cut this side, ended up drilling/hammering it off. Took the same amount of time.
Now I'm getting a bit of "rubbing". When I take a right corner, the side I sit on (I'm a fat guy, mind you) seems to rub. Doesn't happen at low speeds, happens around 25-30ish. It also seems to hit when I go over a good bump, I'm guessing it bottoms out. I think it may be hitting the bumpstops, but not sure. Put a piece of foam in between the bump stop and axle on my side and seemed to dampen it the first corner then got progressively louder...pretty sure tire isn't hitting anything, did extra BFH just in case.
Does it sound like my bump stops? If so...should I just cut them off or what?

Found out the tire is getting cut a little from fenders..so I did the stupid and took a hammer to it. Better now because I tightened up the shocks as well.
I however cannot get the fronts adjusted. The passenger side let me get in there just a bit and I was able to turn it one sweep. Driver side, nothing. They are not facing me and I cannot get in there at all.

If your talking about getting the allen wrench into there to adjust the stiffness. Well i you cant get to it then you have to take off the shock again and re adjust it. Face that part outwards towards the tire.

I was fearing that...damn. Might be a project for Sunday.
As for the rear, would I be okay doing the heater hose mod AND keeping the spring isolator for added clearance?

Ive never seen that or heard that but i would assume it would be ok. I mean the amount of weight on the rear i wouldnt see it making any noise or anything. It may not change the height much thought. I guess youll see how much diff it its

Wait... why do you wanna keep the spring isolators and do the heater hose mod, when its only purpose is to lower the car by removing the isolators?

I want to raise it some. It is bottoming out/hitting the inner fender, which I sorta fixed, but just want to make sure. Plus it is higher in the front and this will even the look out a bit.

Hold on. Your front will settle and come down some. Do you have 315 size wide rear tires? The BFH should take care of that or fender rolling. After this you shouldn't have to do anything and should be good to go! Is your rear end centered?

325. I've done both. Rear looks centered.

I've done this when I wanted a little more height in the back. No problems.
I think you can also get spacers that go on the spring perch.
Good luck

Link to the spacers? I might just do the HH then.
