Default cranking oil pressure

I got a question guys & gals,

I cranked my engine over three times about 5 to 10 seconds each time. I did not see the oil pressure guage move. Its a fresh rebuid, new oil pump, do you think cranking and actual starting the engine makes a major difference in the oil pressure? Im going to start it in the morning and want to know how long I should let it run if I dont see the oil pressure gauge move? It could be a wire harness issue, but wont know until its fired up!

I did double check the oil pickup oring during assembly.

About 10 sec. If you used ***'y. lube during re-build, it will be fine. If no indication of pressure after running for the 10, then shut her down.

Could also pull the driver valve cover & see if turning it over w/ the starter is moving oil. It will take a good 20-30 rotations to see evidence of oil movement. Must be done looking @ driver side head, pass side takes much longer to feed.

I did the same thing with the coil packs removed, and the injector & fuel pump fuses out on my C5. While cranking the gauge always said zero, and the DIC scrolled errors about reduced power. After I let off the key, the DIC and analog gauge popped up to 22-25 psi and slowly drained back down to 0 over several seconds, so I did actually have pressure. Not sure if an F-body behaves the same way or not. Or use a mechanical gauge to verify.

If you fire it up tomorrow, I agree with LS1-450, about 10 seconds with no pressure reported. The pre-priming you did should shorten the pump-up time.
