Default 88 notch LM7 S480 Build

Finally starting a build thread. Hopefully it moves quickly.

I bought a bare LM7 block and some Lunati rods and Ross dished pistons and a built 4l80E off a friend.

I'm lucky enough to be good friends with the director of aftermarket operations at Katech. So I had them build the short block for me.

Had the block bored to 3.900 and used a L92 crank they had on the shelf. So it became a 5.7 liter. Motor came out to 9.33:1

Got comp cams to make me a custom 6.20 lift cam. Also grabbed a set of world challenge CnC'd heads. C5R head studs. GM MLS gaskets. Comp dual valve springs. Trend push rods, stock lifters katech oil pump and chain. LS6 intake, katech ported throttle, self ported 5th gen camaro exhaust manifolds. Also got a 5th gen oil pan but I don't think is going to work, its huge.

Katech got me hooked up with LS7 front drive and C6Z alternator and water pump. Katech tensioner, Billet oil cooler and turbo feed and a set of fast fuel rails.

Its pretty awesome to have a friend with a warehouse full of extra parts.

I bought a S480 for it as well.

I was going to use the 4L80 which is built and has zero miles on it but now I'm leaning toward a glide. So the 4L80 is up for grabs if someone is interested.

This set up was going into a 91 Nissan 300zx T top car but I Sold that for this...

I bought the car as a roller, came almost completely set up and all the chrome molly for the cage plus some. Aerospace brakes, q1a's, coil overs, K member, through the floor sub frame connectors. ect.

The rear is boxed, chrome molly arms, welded tubes, gusseted and girdled. 33 spline Moser axles, spool, 5/8s studs, stock springs, welded in sway bar.

Plate Ideas...

Thoughts, input, ideas are welcome

This is going to be a bad *** build. I love LSx Fox Bodies, they are better with turbos!

The swap pan hangs pretty low it is not much better than the truck pan, I ened up with the F body pan in order to get plenty of ground clearance. Looks like a cool build always liked the LSX in a fox coupe.

I agree with 68SS. Awesome build you got ahead, can't wait to see when you get it going.

Ya I just measured it, the F body one is about 5.25 inches, the pan I got is about 7.5. The swap pan was 156.00 shipped with everything. I have a 5th gen pan on the motor now and that one is way to big. At least I can set the motor in with this one and get some stuff mocked up. I'll change it later if I think its to low. Thanks!

I'm not sure who did most of the work to get it where its now. But I did buy it in the metro area.

awesome!!! btw a LM7 crank and L92 crank are both 3.62 so it's not really an upgrade going from LM7 to L92, but boring it does help

I know there the same stroke, they told me the counter weight was the reason for swapping the crank.
