Suspension & Brakes - LT1 brakes stuck on :( plz help

1996 Z28 with factory discs.

My front wheels spin really hard and my brakes are "on". I can feel the car needing more throttle to move, getting horrible gas mileage, and smells even worse.

Took my caliper off and it seemed fine, put it back on and after I hit the brakes once the caliper was not releasing again.


Whats going on with my setup?

Could the lines be junk on the inside?

I would inspect the caliper pins for wear, if they look good, clean the pins and bores and relube with caliper lube. Also check that the pads can move freely on their guides/caliper brackets. If that doesn't correct it you may have a piston hanging up in the caliper, replacing the caliper would be your best bet.

Pins looked fine. I put the silver anti seeze back on them and put them in.

When we took the brake lines off we had no problems squeezing the piston back in.

that leads me to believe its either the pins or the lines.


Anyone else?

I had the inner lining colapse in a brake line on my 3rd gen once, the caliper wouldn't release at all. If everything mikey67 suggested doesn't work, it may be worth a look.

Just bought LS1 brakes. Ill get new lines too and hopefully that fixes my issues.
