Default Solid Pinion Spacer Preload possible problem

I spent about 1.5 hours trying to figure out this pinion preload with the Ratech solid pinion spacer, and new bearings, and I am either not getting any, or what seems to be too much preload. I am using the park tools inch lb wrench. If I turn the wrench slowly, it reads about 40 on breakaway, then settles to 30-32in lb. If I start turning the wrench faster it reads about 40inlb . Will this be alright to run, or should I mess with it some more and try to lessen the preload? Help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You,

Jarett

Default

You want the rolling torque figure. Oiling the bearings helps smooth things out. I typically run pinion bearings between 25-30 even though the recommend is 20-25. So I'd run it at 32.
