Default "Downgrading" from Aerospace Billet Front Brakes.. Suggestions?

Hey All!

I bought an 87 Mustang GT as a roller that was used as a drag car... 12 point cage, 8.8 w/ 33-spline axles and a spool. The car has aerospace billet front brakes and 93 cobra rear brakes.

My plan is to turn the car into a 'healthy' LS1/t56 street cruiser, so I need to make sure it's safe and fun to drive, including "canyon cruising", cruising to the beach, driving in the rain, etc.

From what I have heard, the drag brakes are unsafe for the street, so I want to go with something more street/strip friendly. What do you guys recommend for a budget setup?

The car will weigh 2800-3000 lb with me in it, should hopefully trap 125-130 mph on the motor and will eventually get a 150-200 shot (135-140 mph traps on nitrous).

What brake system do you guys recommend for the front, for a street/strip car?

Thanks in advance!

Four or five lug?

Five lug I would do 1994/1995 SN95 spindles, SN95 tie rod ends, SN95 ball joints, 1999-2004 calipers and rotors, either v6 or GT both are the same. Swap in a master cylinder that will support the piston sizes in the front calipers. These parts should all be relatively cheap and easy to find. You will either need SN95 struts or spacers to make the spindles work with Fox struts. If you use spindles from 1996 and newer, you will end up with bump steer issues in a Fox due to rack placement differences.

Four lug, I don't know what to tell you.

Thanks for the advice!

It's a 5-lug setup.

The current set up is

AJE Tubular crossmember
Ford Racing Manual Rack
X2C Coilovers with 140lb springs
Lakewood struts 90/10
Aerospace Billet Front Brakes

Looking at Aerospace's website, it looks like have full on drag versions but also make street/strip kits. I'll have to take a look at the car (it's currently at a shop 40 min away) and see if I can figure out exactly which kit is on the car...

Wilwood with vented rotors. I really like mine.

SN95 stuff you need 16" wheels or you will have to grind on the caliper and bracket to fit 15"

My buddy has a Merkur XR4Ti running the 2000ish Mustang GT stock PBR front brakes with Taurus rears. Weight is roughly 3200 pounds and they stop the car great.

My recommendation was based on the "budget setup" requirement without a reference of actual cost goals.

I guess it depends on what you budget actually is though.
