Default Best tire size/brand for Weld 17x8 front wheels

What is Best tire size and brand for Weld RT-S 17x8 front wheels. I have M&H Racemaster tires on my rear Weld RT-S 15x10 rear wheels. The car is a 98 LS7 TA strret/strip car. The car will be driven mostly on the street so I decided againt skinnys for the front. I am also trying to match up the tread pattern with the M&H Racemasters. Any suggestions?

IMO, the narrowest I'd go with is a 225/50/17 (25.86"), Cooper Zeon RS3-S
or a 235/50/17(26.25") Nitto NT NeoGen ZR the tallest.
The widest I'd go is a 245/45/17 (25.68") Cooper Zeon RS3-S
I also picked these in considering that they would have a some what similar look to the tread pattern.

DTD has all of these.

I just checked these out. I like the tread pattern on the Cooper Zeon RS3-S's the best. That is a great call on your part. Will the 225/50/17's fit in the wheel well OK? They are $125 each shipped (great price). The rear tires are 325/50/R15. Would a 225/45/R17 have a better profile with the 325/50/R15's in back or the 225/50/17's? There is only a $3 price difference ($122). The 245/45/R17's are only $130 each. Which size would you pick? Decisions Decisions!!!

Yeah the 225/50/17 will fit perfectly fine in the wheel wells, there just a little taller (1/5th") than a 275/40/17.

IMO, the 225/45/17 is to short, the 225/50/17 will look better since it'll fill the wheel wells better. The only down side I could possibly see is that the 225s might look a little narrow on the 8" wide wheels. If that bothers you any at all then I'd go with the 245/45/17, if you still prefer a taller tire then go with a 235/50/17.

It seams like the 235/50/17 ($127 shipped) is the best choice. I really like these tires as a match for the M&H rear tires. I have a local tire store (Tires Plus) that will mount and balance these tires on the Weld RT-S 17x8's for $30 each. So, I'll spend around $160 per tire mounted and balanced. Not bad compared to the price I got for Nitto 555's mounted and balanced ($175). I think these are much better tires than the Nitto 555's for less money. Great work! I really appreciate the help!

FYI, the Cooper Zeon RS3-S isn't available in a 235/50/17.

Good point. The 235/45/17 would look a little short. I guess it is the 225/50/17 then.
