Default Magnuson 04 CTS-V vs Nitrous 09 G8 GT

My friend (punishmentcycle) just got his car back on the road after he ate a piston and had to rebuild the motor so we decided to line them up and see where the chips fell.

2004 CTS-V - M6, stock displacement 9.8:1 forged motor, LS9 cam, stock LS6 heads, 1.9 liter Magnuson blower, full exhaust

476 rwhp, 460 rwtq

2009 G8 GT - A6, bolt-ons, full exhaust, 150 shot, drag radials

486 rwhp, 561 rwtq

The damn G8 gets another one, lol.

Looking forward to seeing some runs with the new NANO setup.

Hells yeah I did, lol. My car only makes 348 rwhp on motor, so it would have been a murder if I didn't.

I was very happy with the run because it shows that my G8 is faster than my Z28 was on motor.

You should run him again from a lower roll... See if you can handle all that torque...lol
If i didn't have a V and know the low end issues i would go from a dig... that V might surprise ya.
Good Kill tho Screamin!!

My car doesn't spin ever from any mph, so a low roll or dig would be more than welcome The nitrous doesn't come on until 20 mph though, so some cars do get out on me off the line.

His V does have a beefed rear and axles, but he's on street tires so low rolls are out for now, but that could change at some point

Yeah, it's set to come on at 3000 rpm, which is 20 mph in 1st gear with the crappy stock gearing. Some shorter drag radials and a 3.27 or 3.45 gear would probably help out quite a bit.

Any updates with your bro and his nitrous kit or is he still planning a swap?

G8 and V roll out!

Should have had your buddy with the 09 V come out and run the two V's.

He's been tinkering with it here and there between work. He plans on installing it for this year and then doing the swap in the fall or winter.

Kinda surprised hes only making 470rwhp with that set up. Its forged so why isnt he spinning the blower more?

I'm not sure how much more you can get out of those blowers. I know his previous setup suffered from bad belt slip a lot of the time, and the current one doesn't seem to.

I'm sure he'll chime in once he's done looking at boobies

Small blower, that thing is about maxed out the way it sits. Might be able to sneak another 20-25rwhp out of it but its getting out of its efficiency at that point and just building more heat. I always HATED the maggies ont he first gen Vs for that reason. You cant make great power with them.

Have you done anything with the fuel system yet other than injectors?
