i have a 2000 camaro z28 i just bought and the guy that previously owned it just put a new water pump and thermostat in the car. it doesnt leak at all in the driveway, but when i drive it, its a half gallon of coolant low. i have knowledge that he has ran the car hot previously. i have tried bleeding the coolant system and soon after the car gets to running temp, it blows coolant out of the radiator about 2 feet high.. I am able to drive car approximately 30 miles before the temp starts shooting up... i have also pressure tested the system, only to see that it holds pressure fine. i also have recently replaced the thermostat and radiator cap, flushed the system, and cleaned out fins on radiator... ANY ADVICE APPRECIATED!!!!!

I dont understand the statement "It blows coolant out of the radiator 2 feet high." Wherever the area that the coolant is blowing out of would I would assume is your problem... you might have a leak in the radiator somewhere and the it is leaking steam... I had a slightly cracked radiator and could never understand why my car was over heating. When i finally found the crack it was not leaking fluid but blowing out steam. I would have to add coolant regularly until i just fixed the radiator. But you mentioned you checked the pressure?? Check your hoses..

no, when im bleeding the air out of system, as soon as thermostat opens all the way, it blows coolant 2 feet high from where cap is supposed to go... (the big ass hole on top)

Sounds like possibly a clogged block man... Only thing that comes to mind.. Especially if the guy before you was running it hot..

Does the cooling fan seem to be operating correctly?

if the car ever gets over 210 the fans cut on.... but ONLY when temp gets above 210

It could be clogged passages in the engine, one option is to install a flush and fill kit from an auto parts store and flush the engine with a garden hose. You can also use chemicals to help flush it out, you just have to make sure you get ALL the chemicals out. Talk to your local auto parts dealer and he will show you the things you need. Maybe you should just take it to a mechanic.... goodluck man.

If I were you I would do a compression and leak test, sounds like a blown head gasket for me. I really hope I'm wrong though. Good luck with your finding.
